Looking down across the valley from the soccer field at Dankook University. The crane is part of construction on campus, but cranes like this are scattered all over Jookjeon. Construction is booming here. The tall apartment buildings just peeking out of the mist and rain are probably less than a mile away.

 

Pancakes…coffee…marvelous July 20, 2008

Yesterday we took a trip to Jeongja, a section of Yongin a couple of subway stops away. We went with a few other teachers from our school in search of a legendary diner reported to offer pancakes and bottomless coffee. In spite of monsoon rains that came up from the ground as well as down from the sky, the expedition was a complete success. Indeed, we also located a foreign foods market called I Love Cookies a short distance away from Butterfinger Pancakes. Last night we victoriously dined on macaroni and cheese and vodka tonics. Huzzah!
